The recently founded company Baltic Pilot offers piloting services in a new and more customer-oriented way. We are your business partner, not an authority, aiming at offering you the best possible service, tailor-made to suit your vessel.

Professional experience

The employees of Baltic Pilot own decades of accumulated know-how and experience from different types of shipping. All our pilots are master mariners, owning extensive experience from working as pilots and masters on vessels.

Flexible

We at Baltic Pilot think that the customer should be the focus when it comes to piloting. In our opinion it is the customer, personified by the master of the vessel reguiring pilotage, that should tell us what they want – not vice versa. We therefore create individual solutions that suit your vessel and your needs.

Logistic solutions

If reguired, we offer complete logistic solutions in co-operation with shipping agencies and stevedoring companies, covering your whole visit in port. We are also co-operating with one of the largest towing companies in the Baltic Sea area and may include towage and piloting into a whole package at a very competitive price. In our opinion the price of the towage services must be low enough, not to become an overwhelming issue when deciding about using tug assistance for safe berthing. Safety must always come first!

The more you use, the less you pay…

Our basic business idea is to establish a long-term co-operation with our key customers, thus offering considerable price reductions in pilotage. When the volumes grow, the price of piloting comes down. By establishing a close co-operation with our customers we also get to know their vessels and their crews better for optimum performance with the bridge team during piloting.

Added value

Piloting is about offering service. Baltic Pilot is close to the customer and easy to reach in all conditions by mobile phone, e-mail or VHF directly from the ship. We are available at short notice, and we have a fleet of own, sea-worthy pilot boats. Our cost-efficient and streamlined organisation enables rational solutions without the service to our customer being suffering. Piloting is like any other business – the customer is the King.

Covering the largest ports

Baltic Pilot is certified by the authorities for piloting all types of vessels in the most frequently used fairways to Finnish ports. Today our pilotage services cover the port of Rauma, we will continue to expand along the coast as the clients require. Kotka, Helsinki and Hanko as well as transfers through the Turku archipelago between Utö and Isokari will be manned in the near future. With competitive prices on pilotage, the short cut through the archipelago saves a lot of time and in the long run also money as the vessel may be better utilized.

The private alternative

Baltic Pilot is owned by Captain Joakim Håkans. In conjunction with the leading tug owner Alfons Håkans, which operates a fleet of some 30 tugs and fast pilot boats, we secure the safe and punctual transport of pilots even during severe winter conditions.

Your reliable partner

We at Baltic Pilot are convinced about that new and fresh ideas are needed also within pilotage. The pilot is the crew’s first contact with the port and it is our job to make sure that your visit proceeds as smoothly as possible – from the minute our pilot enters your vessel to the moment that he disembarks when you have left the port.
